Pros and cons

Pros

  • Return windows run 30 to 90 days, long enough to set a machine up properly before deciding to keep it.
  • Categories cover computers, phones and audio, so computers, phones, audio, gaming and refurbished kit come from one account.
  • Price match is offered, so a cheaper listing elsewhere gives you a number to hold the seller to.
  • Trade in is available, so an older phone or laptop can offset part of a new order.
  • Support covers help centre, phone and chat, so help is not limited to reading policy pages.

Cons

  • Refurbished phones are graded excellent, very good and good, so a lower price can mean fair rather than excellent condition.
  • The refurb warranty runs 3 months, shorter than the usual 12 months for the sites in this group.
  • Support runs on help centre, phone and chat only, with email absent from the listed channels.

Visit

Who it suits

  • Shoppers buying a computer, a phone and gaming kit in one order, since categories cover computers, phones and audio.
  • Refurbished buyers who can pick a grade from excellent, very good and good and use trade in to soften the price.
  • Students, because a student discount is offered alongside price match.

Who should look elsewhere

  • Banggood, if you want the computers, phones and audio range and have no use for the refurbished category inside computers, phones and audio.
  • JBL, if audio is the whole brief, since audio, gaming and refurbished is an audio led catalogue rather than the broad computers, phones and audio spread.

Core features

Returns are the headline here, and the stated window runs 30 to 90 days. That is long enough to install an operating system, move files across and still have time to send a laptop back, and long enough for a fault on a phone or a panel to show itself before the clock runs out. It is the difference between a store you can try and a store you can only inspect. Price match is offered, which means a cheaper listing elsewhere does not have to end the search: the lower price becomes the number you hold the seller to. Trade in is available too, so an older phone or laptop can go against the price of a new order instead of sitting in a drawer. Extended warranty is offered as a separate cover, for buyers whose usage runs past the maker's terms. Since it sits outside the hardware price, it belongs in the budget next to the machine rather than in the headline figure.

The company behind it

The site is run by Newegg Commerce, Inc., founded in 2001 and based in the US. That is a long operating history for a marketplace, and the scale matters when a parcel goes missing or a return needs a counterparty to answer for it. Support runs on help centre, phone and chat. The help centre holds the policy detail, and phone and chat cover the questions that need a live answer. The list holds no email address, so anything that needs a written record has to be kept by hand from a chat or a call. Returns, trade in and warranty queries all arrive through the same desk, which keeps the chain short but concentrates the load on it. What the company history does not settle is who covers a specific unit. Sellers set the grade, the packaging and the accessory box, and the store's own terms are the backstop rather than the source of the specification.

How Newegg compares

Frequently asked questions

How long do I have to return something?+

Newegg's own policy lines give you 30 to 90 days to send an item back, counted from delivery. That is enough time to open the box, install an operating system and move your files across before deciding whether to keep it. Extended warranty is offered as well, and that cover is separate from the return window, sitting on top of the maker's own terms.

What can I actually buy here?+

Store categories run to computers, phones and audio, so a computer, a phone, audio, a television, a camera, an appliance and a refurbished unit all sit on one account. Listed product types are laptop, gaming laptop and desktop, covering laptops, gaming laptops, desktops, gaming PCs and tablets. The catalogue spans 344 brands.

Which laptops and operating systems are listed?+

Operating systems listed are Windows, macOS and ipados. Graphics cards cover nvidia and amd, and the site stocks laptop, gaming laptop and desktop, so a Windows desktop, a macOS laptop and an iPad tablet can be compared in one place. Windows accounts for 48.6% of operating system listings, with 65.3% for Android devices.

Are the phones unlocked and can I trade in an old one?+

Unlocked handsets are listed, so a phone bought here does not start out tied to one carrier. Trade in is also available, which lets an older phone go back against the price of a new one. Refurbished stock is graded on a excellent, very good and good scale, so a cheaper grade means a cosmetically different device rather than a different warranty.

What will I pay to get started?+

Entry pricing starts at $1,099.99, which is a shelf price for the cheapest item in the catalogue rather than a delivery or membership fee. Price match is offered, so a lower price spotted elsewhere is the number to quote before you commit. A student discount is offered on top of that for eligible buyers.

Where does it ship and where is it based?+

The store is based in the US and trades across US, AR and AU, so much of the world reads from the same catalogue. Returns on those lines run 30 to 90 days from delivery. The company behind the site is Newegg Commerce, Inc., founded in 2001.

How do I reach someone if something goes wrong?+

Support runs on help centre, phone and chat. The help centre is where policy detail lives, and phone and chat cover the questions that need a quick answer. That list holds no email address, so anything needing a written record has to be kept by hand from a chat or call. Returns and trade in queries go through the same desk.

What warranty comes with a refurbished device?+

Refurbished devices carry 3 months of warranty, against a usual 12 months for the sites in this group. Battery health on that stock is screened from 80%, and the strongest battery figures on the site reach 70 hours. A dead pixel policy is offered on qualifying monitor lines.

What about monitors and gaming kit?+

Gaming monitors run to a 720 Hz ceiling, with panel types listed as ips, va and oled and a usual figure of 270 Hz. Wireless controllers cover the platforms listed as pc, playstation and xbox, so PC, console and mobile pads sit in the same section.
