Pros and cons

Pros

  • Entry price of $79 across a handheld and controller range keeps the opening cost low.
  • Build to order, so memory and storage can be chosen rather than taken from a fixed configuration.
  • Memory reaches 64 GB on amd graphics, and one GPU brand keeps configurations simple to order.
  • Covers pc, mobile and standalone play on Windows and Android, so PC, mobile and standalone libraries share one device.
  • Compared with CORSAIR, whose gaming headset, gaming keyboard and gaming mouse list stops at desk peripherals, this range adds portable play.

Cons

  • Warranty of 1 year is thin, and the length ranking is 17 of 40.
  • Support runs on email, help centre and community only, with no phone line or live chat listed.
  • Returns are limited to a 7 day window, which is tight once a custom build has shipped.
  • Graphics come from amd only, so a different GPU brand is not an option.

Who it suits

  • Players who want one device covering pc, mobile and standalone play across Windows and Android.
  • Buyers comfortable choosing their own specification, since build to order is offered.
  • Shoppers who accept a 1 year warranty to reach an entry price of $79.

Who should look elsewhere

  • Headset and peripheral buyers: HyperX covers gaming headset, gaming mouse and gaming keyboard and CORSAIR covers gaming headset, gaming keyboard and gaming mouse, so their shelves suit a desk setup rather than handheld and controller.
  • Anyone shopping for a headset as the main buy: Skullcandy lists gaming headset, a different product from the handheld and controller sold here.
  • Anyone who wants a full desk setup from one maker: HyperX gathers gaming headset, gaming mouse and gaming keyboard in a single line, while this range covers handheld and controller only.

How it compares on our data

On our data AYANEO sits at 30 of 47 brands on price from, and at 17 of 40 brands on warranty years. Those two placements describe the same bargain: a device you can buy at a modest entry cost, backed by cover that is not the longest on the list. The cost part of our score, 8.8, and the offer part, 9, land close together, so neither the price nor what comes with it pulls the brand far from the middle. Read the ranking as a prompt to compare the exact device you want rather than the brand name, because a range sold from one entry price says little about the model you pick.

The company behind it

The company behind the range is ANYUN INTELLIGENT TECHNOLOGY (HONG KONG) CO., LTD, based in Hong Kong. Support runs on email, help centre and community, so help arrives by email, through a help centre or in a community forum, and no phone line is listed. The legal entity name does not carry the badge you shop under, which matters when a warranty or returns claim has to be made, so it is worth reading who the counterparty is before ordering. Buyers who want a shop that answers on the same day, or one whose company name matches the product name, will find that harder here than buyers who are happy to deal through written channels.

How AYANEO compares

Frequently asked questions

How much does the cheapest AYANEO device cost?+

The entry price is $79, which places AYANEO at 30 of 47 brands on price from, so the opening cost sits in the middle of the field rather than at either extreme. Hardware from this brand is bought outright, so there is no monthly or yearly charge to weigh after the purchase.

Does anything renew after buying an AYANEO device?+

No recurring charge applies, so the outlay stops at the purchase price of $79. What matters afterwards is cover rather than a plan: the warranty runs 1 year and returns are handled within a 7 day window. Anything outside those terms is your own cost, which is worth weighing against the low entry price.

What does AYANEO actually sell?+

The range is handheld and controller, so the choice is between a portable console and a controller rather than a desk build. Nothing here is a laptop, desktop or mini PC, which makes AYANEO a narrower stop than a shop that also lists gaming headset, gaming keyboard and gaming mouse for a full gaming desk.

Which platforms and operating systems do AYANEO devices cover?+

Devices run on Windows and Android and cover pc, mobile and standalone play, so a single handheld can hold a PC library, mobile games and standalone titles. Console platforms are not part of that list, so a buyer who mainly plays on a living room system will find the coverage narrower than expected.

How much memory and which graphics do the handhelds use?+

Memory reaches 64 GB, which is the upper end of what this range publishes, and graphics come from amd. A single GPU brand keeps the choice simple and keeps configurations close together, though it removes the option of another chip vendor if you want a different one.

Can I choose my own configuration?+

Build to order is offered, so memory and storage can be set when you order rather than taken from a fixed boxed model. The trade-off is patience, and the returns window of 7 days leaves less room to change your mind once a custom unit has been built and shipped.

What warranty and returns cover comes with the purchase?+

The warranty runs 1 year, which places AYANEO at 17 of 40 brands on length, and returns are handled within a 7 day window. That short cover is the trade-off for the low entry price of $79, so read the terms before committing to a custom build.

How do I reach AYANEO support, and who do I deal with?+

Support runs on email, help centre and community, so questions go by email, through a help centre or into a community forum, and no phone line is listed. The company behind the range is ANYUN INTELLIGENT TECHNOLOGY (HONG KONG) CO., LTD, based in Hong Kong, which is the name a warranty or returns claim would sit with.
