What is Legal entity?

In short

The registered company behind a brand, and the name to look for when you need an invoice or a claim.

A legal entity is the registered company that actually stands behind a trading name, and it is the party named on your invoice and in a warranty claim. Big brands usually file under a formal corporate name while selling under a short one, so the two rarely match. Adorama sells under its own name and registers as Adorama Camera, Inc., and ACMER, which appears online simply as ACMER, is run by JYGHSDEVC LLC. AGM Mobile is handled by AGM MOBILE LIMITED, and Acer files as Acer Inc.. This matters most when something goes wrong: the claim, and the consumer law behind it, run against the registered company rather than the logo on the box.
