Our verdict

JOOAN is the budget route into panoramic cameras, with the range built around 360 camera and an overall score of 9.4 on this comparison. It suits US buyers who want a low cost body and will handle support themselves, while the 1 year warranty leaves little room for a slow claim.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • The entry figure of $13.99 sits below EMeet's listed €29.99, so a camera body works out cheaper at the bottom of the market.
  • Support runs on email, phone and chat, so a help centre, phone, chat and email are all open to a buyer.
  • A 1 year warranty matches the median warranty across the site at 1.
  • Delivery is set up for US, which keeps the purchase straightforward for US shoppers.
  • Cover sits with a named company, HK RUIXUN INTELLIGENT TECH CO., LIMITED in Hong Kong, rather than an anonymous seller.

Cons

  • The range covers 360 camera only, so buyers after a conventional action camera or compact, as campark lists with action camera and compact, need another store.
  • A 1 year warranty is shorter than the cameras and lenses median of 1.5, so a fault is likelier a replacement than a repair.
  • Orders ship to US alone, so buyers in other regions have no stated delivery or return terms from this seller.

Who it suits

  • Buyers who want 360 camera at a low entry price and treat cameras as replaceable kit.
  • US shoppers, since delivery is set up for US.
  • People who like a choice of support routes, with email, phone and chat available.

Who should look elsewhere

  • Anyone after an action camera or compact camera: campark lists action camera and compact where JOOAN's range is 360 camera.
  • Second hand buyers, who get more choice from Defender Cameras, listed with 360 camera and used cameras.
  • Anyone after a webcam rather than a panoramic body, since EMeet is listed from €29.99 for its own camera range.

Where it sits among rivals

On price from, JOOAN ranks 1 of 42 brands, which is the strongest thing this listing has going for it. Warranty length tells the other side of the story, with the brand at 18 of 41 brands. Readers who rank on cover rather than ticket price will find plenty of brands ahead of it here.

Who runs it

The store is run by HK RUIXUN INTELLIGENT TECH CO., LIMITED, registered in Hong Kong, and the brand was founded in 2010. Support is offered on email, phone and chat, so there is a help centre alongside email, phone and chat. That named entity is the party behind a warranty claim, so check the name against your receipt if something goes wrong.

Frequently asked questions

What does a JOOAN camera cost at the start?+

The range opens at $13.99 for the entry model, and on this site that figure ranks 1 of 42 brands. A webcam such as EMeet is listed from €29.99, so the two sit close together at the bottom of the market even though they are very different products.

What kind of cameras does JOOAN sell?+

JOOAN's listed product type is 360 camera, so the range is built around panoramic bodies rather than stick cameras. If you want a conventional action camera or a small compact, campark lists action camera and compact and is the closer match for that shape.

How long is the JOOAN warranty?+

Cover runs 1 year, which is a short commitment for a camera body. That matches the median warranty across the site at 1, and it leaves JOOAN at 18 of 41 brands on this list. Read a claim as a replacement case rather than a repair.

Who do I contact if a JOOAN camera faults?+

Support runs on email, phone and chat, so you have a help centre, phone, chat and email to choose between. Start with the help centre for setup questions, then move to email or phone when a fault needs a claim. Having every route open means you are not tied to a single inbox.

Who runs the JOOAN store?+

The seller is HK RUIXUN INTELLIGENT TECH CO., LIMITED, registered in Hong Kong, and the company was founded in 2010. Those details tell you which party handles your order and warranty. Buyers checking the paperwork behind a camera brand can match the entity name against the receipt before ordering.

Does JOOAN ship to my country?+

Delivery is listed for US alone, so the store is set up for US buyers. Shoppers elsewhere will need to weigh shipping and returns themselves before ordering, and the company behind the store sits in Hong Kong.

Is JOOAN a good first panoramic camera?+

It is a budget route into panoramic shooting, with prices from $13.99 and support on email, phone and chat. Buyers who want a longer warranty or a wider range of bodies should choose a brand with more cover and more formats, since JOOAN's warranty is 1 year and its range is 360 camera.

How does JOOAN compare with Defender Cameras?+

The two overlap on a product type: Defender Cameras lists 360 camera and used cameras, which includes the same panoramic format as JOOAN's 360 camera. Defender also carries used units, so weigh it if a new body at JOOAN's $13.99 entry price is not the deal you want.
